How to protect and take care of the veins in your legs?

• After surgery, avoid staying in one position for long periods of time. If possible, move about and walk around.
  
  
  
  
• Maintain good blood circulation when wearing pressure stockings through light exercises such as walking or movements recommend by your doctor.
  
  
  
  
• Avoid crossing your legs while sitting and wearing tight clothing
  
  
  
  
• 3-5 times per day, raise your legs up into the air to improve blood circulation.
  
  
  
  
• Avoid putting your legs in hot water for too long
  
  
  
  
• Keep an eye on the condition of the skin on your legs. Visit the doctor immediately if you spot or find varicose veins or other irregularities.

• If you are already diagnosed with DVT, consult your doctor for other precautionary methods during and after surgery.

How to choose pressure stockings?

• The pressure distribution should be gradual with most pressure at the ankle and least pressure at the thigh.
  
  
  
  
• The unit of measurement for pressure is mmHg.
  
  
  
  
• Use the measurements provided for size selection. Never wear pressure stockings that are meant for another person.
  
  
  
  
• Stockings should be well ventilated and suitable for wearing, long periods at a time.
